Gem Lake Residence
James Steele Construction was chosen for this exceptional energy-efficient home due to our long relationship with Rafferty Rafferty Tollefson Architects. The house is organized into 2100 sf of main level that primarily serves the couple and 800 sf of upper level space serving returning children, grandchildren and guests. The interior structure parallels the two halls and allows for large volume spaces at the entry, the main living area, and the master bedroom. The guest area includes three bedrooms and a bath. There are two separate studies that serve the husband and wife.
The home primarily orients to the south with clerestory dormers for additional natural light. The roofing material is made from recycled tire, Icynene sprayed-in insulation provides both exceptional insulating value while eliminating infiltration, energy efficient heating and cooling units, and large built in overhangs minimize solar gain in the summer while allowing heat gain in the winter.
